How to revive football in India?
India even won gold medal in football in the Asian games held in 50s . Those were the days India was developing to become a great football power. But eventually it didn't happen. Then in 70s, India got craze of Hockey. India won gold after gold in hockey in Olympics. Then in 1983 Indian Mens Cricket Team won the Cricket World Cup which I believe the reason that ignited cricket fever in India. Then no other sport excelled except cricket. Hockey became worse than any other sport cause being our national game no one supported it and India won nothing in recent era. Within a span of 20 years, our national game was kicked out . A league called Premier League Hockey(PHL) was started but due to some reasons the league was thrown out. Some forgeries led to suspend Indian Hockey Federation and now a new body called Hockey India is formed.
Now, coming to the world's most favorite sport- Football. India ranks 144th in FIFA rankings and 26th in Asia. Apart from 1956, we never qualified for WC finals. We were beaten by some of the small countries of Asia ( Ex: Lebanon, Singapore) and our dreams are shattered in the first round of qualifiers itself. Then we've to wait for another four years to play qualifiers. In the meantime, nothing happens. It just continues and will continue especially in India. Our neighbors Pakistan, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh are much below in rankings than ours. But now the situation seems to be improving. The AIFF is taking some actions to improve football. India won AFC Challenge Cup last year and have qualified for the 2011 Asian Cup for the first time since 1984, thats mainly due to our British Coach Mr.Bob Houghton. Many believe he's the right man to guide Indian football to glory.
India is having its own football league called I-league which follows the traditional football league system of other countries. But even though we have some of the oldest football clubs in the world like Mohun Bagan and East Bengal(Mohun Bagan is in FIFA's top ten clubs list :)) none of them is producing magic in football when compared with European football. Most of the stadiums remain half filled during I-league matches. But during Kolkata derbies, 50000+ fans turn out. In 2007, during Oliver kahn's farewell match, 120,000 fans turned out in the Salt Lake Stadium, Kolkata. And last year when Maradona visited India one lakh fans turned out @ Salt Lake and 50000 were welcoming him at the airport. Those were great scenes for a football lover. So this proves football have a reasonable amount of support in our country. If not, why should TV channels like ESPN STAR buys the Premier League rights and WC rights for a whopping amount . And why we can see many youngies wearing the likes of Rooney, Beckham, Ronaldo or Kaka in the streets.
India is having a rich fan base for football now. Especially for Premier League(EPL) and other top European leagues. All top European clubs have fans clubs in our country with Manchester United being the favorite club of India. You can question us, " Why you're supporting an European club being an Indian?". But the reason is passion and true fan-ship. Whenever you see your favorite team scoring a goal or winning a championship, you're just filled with pure joy. If they lose, it'd definitely hurt you. But I feel winning doesn't matter in football. What matters is a stunning volley that hits the top corner of the crossbar and then it comes back!! Being a die-hard Man Utd fan, I can't find any reason how I fell in love with United. May be Fergie, Old Trafford, the history, Munich disaster or the legends. But what matters is enjoying hundreds of wins, thousands of goals and some trophies.
It hurts for a football fan that while the whole world is playing football and India lives in a separate part of the world. A nation's power is calculated not only in terms of Technology and Bureaucracy, but also in terms of sports. All top powers of the world( USA, Russia, Germany, Australia etc) have respectable teams in Football.
Many football fans in India would've dreamt of India playing in WC finals. But that doesn't gonna happen in near future. It is a pity that the most who watch don't go on to take football as a profession. Football ain't developed as a profession in India. Actions should be taken at the grassroots to renovate football. Two main things are required: Investment and Publicity. Big names should come forward to find young talent and give them proper training. Everything should be done at the level zero. May be in the next 30 years everything could change.
But one thing is sure, We all love Football, and we are TRUE FANS in every manner of the word!
Here comes Valencia
Manchester United have made their first signing of the summer after confirming a16m(approx) deal with Luis Antonio Valencia!! The 23 year old have signed a four year contract.
And, while it is not expected Valencia will represent the end of Ferguson's spending, the United boss is already tipping the South American to make a big impact.
"Antonio is a player we have admired for some time now, having spent the last two years in the Premier League with Wigan," he said.
"I am sure his pace and ability will make a significant contribution to the team."
Valencia's arrival ensures that Rooney will not be given central role.
"Joining Manchester United is a dream come true for me," he said. "I have enjoyed my time at Wigan but I am thrilled to have the chance to challenge for the biggest honours in club football here. "Playing in front of 76,000 fans alongside players like Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Ryan Giggs will be an amazing experience. "I can't wait to get started." The Ecuadorian will get his first opportunity on a four-match tour of Asia next month, before the Red Devils head for a four-team tournament in Munich.
"I hope the fans at Wigan can understand that I am an ambitious guy and a chance like this might never come again for me," said Valencia, who will be 24 next month.
"I am happy that the club has benefited from the move financially because I owe them such a lot. I have had a great time here."

RIP Michael Jackson(1958-2009)
Michael Jackson, defined in equal parts as the world’s greatest entertainer and perhaps its most enigmatic figure, was about to attempt one of the greatest comebacks of all time. Then his life was cut shockingly — and so far, mysteriously — short.
The 50-year-old musical superstar died Thursday, just as he was preparing for what would be a series of 50 concerts starting July 13 at London’s famed 02 arena.
His 1982 album “Thriller” — which included the blockbuster hits “Beat It,” “Billie Jean” and “Thriller” — is the best-selling album of all time, with an estimated 50 million copies sold worldwide.
MJ's Discography:
- Got to Be There (1972)
- Ben (1972)
- Music and Me (1973)
- Forever, Michael (1975)
- Off the Wall (1979)
- Thriller (1982)
- Bad (1987)
- Dangerous (1991)
- HIStory (1995)
- Invincible (2001)

GOAL III - Don't see it
Goal III - Taking on the world, a sequel of Goal II and Goal! describes the pain of an English player after his team mate dies and England loses to Portugal in 2006 WC Quarter final.
The story goes like this: Three Real Madrid stars Santiago Munez, Charlie Braithwite and Leo Adams goes to Hollywood for an Ad Shoot. Charlie falls in love with an actress. They got selected for WC for their respective nations ( Santi - Mexico, Charlie and Adams - England). They met with an accident and Santi gets injuries and he's out of WC. Other two survives and plays WC. Meanwhile Adams moves to Newcastle and Santi to Spurs. Charlie dies during WC (side effects of the accident injury). England plays Portugal in Quarters. Rooney sent off for pushing CR and arguing with referee Eventually that match goes to Penalties. Lampard, Gerrard and Adams misses penalties and CR's successful penalty wins it for Portugal. England out of WC. Full of tears. Then finally Adams marries and back to clubs.
Kuno Becker (Santi) , jus played a guest role and this movie is not a continuation of 1 and 2. Final 30 mins are very emotional and as usual music rocks.
If you're a Goal fan, I recommend you not to watch this one.
My rating-2.5/5

See Ya CR7 :(
It is confirmed! World Player of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo has joined Real Madrid for £80 million !!!
Ronaldo will join Real Madrid after United accepted a world record £80m ($163m) offer for their best player, and will earn £107 million ($A215 million) over six years according to newspaper reports in England. The deal involves a salary increasing each season, reportedly starting at a mere £183,000 a week before eventually rising to £556,000 a week.
That will mean Ronaldo will earn 33 times the average salary of the average Spaniard..
Wow.. Thats huge money.. Isn't it??
Even in this recession time I couldn't believe Real Madrid's spending spree!!
Madrid had already grabbed the headlines by signing fellow former World Player of the Year Kaka from AC Milan, for a $A114.5 million transfer fee.
So itz tym 4 United supporters to send off CR7 from Manchester..
Bye Bye Ron..

Howz it???
Highs and lows of Manchester United 08-09
* Champions league final loss: United was performing so well till CL final. No one expected such a poor performance from United in European Championship final.
* Tevez to leave?? For most of the season Tevez was sitting in bench and he just got frustrated and decided to move to another club.
* More debt: United's debt increased to 699m.
Highs now..
* Achieved Treble: United won Premier League, Carling Cup and FIFA Club WC.
CL would've been great!!
* Highest turnover: United achieved a turnover of 256m. Highest by a football club in the world.

A University without any vision
Coming 2 the topic, AU jus follows the age old educational methodologies of the other universities..except they introduced 50 marks for internals and 50 for externals.. and they came with another idiotic idea called MOTIVATED STUDY/INNOVATIVE WORK which jus makes a stud to go off from his studyin work to writing work for more than two weeks (which may take more for slow writers!!).. they'll jus ask us to complete six 72 paged notebooks within 2 weeks and we studs will usually start writin b4 two days from the submission date and we're forced to take leave (for atleast a week!!!) to complete these works!!! Really f**kin!!!
Another bad thing abt AU CBE is ONLINE EVALUATION.. For the first time in India, the answer papers are corrected online.. the answers papers are scanned first and then converted to PDF ( I think) and they've completely computerised answerbook evaluation.. this system is copied from the Universities of the West and it doesn't work out in India.. Why do they copy others' ?? Why shouldn't they follow the simple pen correction???
I wrote ma sem exams on Nov/Dec 2008 and I got the results on June 1,2009.. I scored 7.43 which I think I deserve more ( 8+ wud've been gr8!!).. who shud I blame???
Myself !! For joinin dis coll !! And for studyin under A UNIVERSITY WITHOUT ANY VISION!!!
The syllabus for CS/IT is juz d same old stuff.. They not even changed the language papers... same old C,C++,Java....same old RDBMS with OracleWe can learn these things in Computer Centres.. Why shud v join an engg coll?? The studs are jus copying and pasting what's given in d text book and they get 9+ and they'll get a degree after four years and say "hey.. am an engineer now!! " Well.. its not the right thing.. AN ENGINEER SHOULD INVENT THINGS.. NOT EARN FROM WATS ACTUALLY THERE!!! India is producing lakhs and lakhs of wat they're called Engineers, but still India is far below in the World's super powers list.. Here ppl r studyin engineering only for earning miney...I feel that everything should be changed from the basics.. from the bottom..
Think about class five students learning Java..
Think second year guyz doin Projects...
Think about learning RDBMS with MySQL..
Everythin is d hands of STUDENTS.. Atleast students we should wake up and realise wats goin on!!!
